Organized Life Interrupted

I really think the above picture fits me to a tee. I claim to be not obsessive about stuff, but when I really look at how I handle certain things I think I might have to change my opinion. I like things done my way when I want them done. I know I am not the only person out there who has this disorder. I have a schedule and I like to stick to that schedule to a tee. If I get thrown off or someone decides to change something last minute I almost want to pull my hair out. I have come a long way since being married to Corey. He is so easy going it sometimes makes me sick. If the roof is leaking (which it is by the way) his attitude is I will get to it, it is fine. Those buckets up in the attic are doing a great job of catching the rain. Me, I like to fix things pronto and not waste anytime. I hate the thought of having something broken or not just right.

So this weekend we are having a house full of people coming to visit for Hailey's baby blessing. I do love visiting and I love seeing people I haven't seen for a long time. The kids absolutely love when Grandma and Grandpa come to visit with their bus. We also have Corey's brother and family from Texas coming up to stay for the weekend. So what happens when I can't control all these people and tell them where to put their stuff and how to pull the shower curtain just right after showers.....I go manic. I feel like I am suffocating and I am not lying. I can compare it to claustrophobia because I have some of that too. But I am DETERMINED to not get too anal this weekend. I will let them shower how they want, I will let them eat and not worry about every crumb left on the floor. I will let the kids play and not scream that they are leaving a mess in the bedrooms. I am not going to make people feel unwelcome and leave early because of it (yes believe it or not I have done this too). So if I can just make it four days without a mental breakdown then I will have happy moments to share with pictures for my blog. Let's just hope I can control my OCD for this family time that we can look back on years down the road with no regrets.

Hailey is One Month Old!!

Can you believe it has been one month since we had Hailey. I have to admit it feels like we have had her longer than that. It might be the fact that we are awake most of the 24 hours of the day. But I would not give her back for the world. She was worth everything that I had to give up to have her. She has been a pretty good baby with the usual bouts of fussiness. But one look at those super chubby cheeks and you can't help but kiss her. I thought instead of a bunch of pictures I would take a little video. I was so sure she would be super happy since it was in the morning, but she decided to give us her "attitude" to show everyone. We love you Hailey Sophia and we are so excited to have you in our family.

Ode to American Idol

I Love American Idol this year. There are so many people on that I would love to see win. In fact, I have to admit none of the contestants this year make me want to scream. I really enjoy listening to them sing. This week I really liked Matt and Adam. I know that Adam got mixed reviews this week, but I really liked it. Plus who wouldn't like Matt's rendition of Carey Underwood's song. I voted for Adam multiple times before I couldn't get through. So at least I can say I did my part. If you are a lover of American Idol leave a comment to let me know who you like.

First Day of Spring Break...Got Lots Done

Today was a pretty good day for me. I got early and went out and worked out in my garage. Corey did a great job cleaning it out and turning half into my own personal gym. I love it. Of course it made me realize how out of shape I was, but it gives me an idea of where I need to go.

Then I spent the rest of the morning working. I have redone our main bathroom. I painted and then redecorated. I love it. I had some before pictures, but I erased them..whoops. But here are the after ones.

I also washed, waxed and cleaned the inside of our new car. Corey couldn't believe how productive I was today. He said if only I could be this productive everyday....yeah right. I am taking a day off tomorrow.

Sex Education 101

If anyone has been around my family for any amount of time, you know that we are not prudish about such things as sex or anything related. But I have to say I was thrown for a loop yesterday when Logan kept asking questions about babies and where they come from and how they get in your belly. The smaller two are content with Heavenly Father put them there for now. But Logan was persistent and of course this would happen when Corey is nowhere to be found. I am inserting what our conversation went like:

Logan: So how come you had a baby after you got married to Daddy?

Kory: Well that is how you are supposed to do it, you should be married to have babies.

Logan: Yes but it was after you got married (it hit me that he was thinking you only have babies right after you are married)

Kory: No, after you are married you can have as many babies as you want.

Logan: So how does the baby get in your belly?

Kory: Well Daddy put it there.

Logan: So, how did Daddy put it in there?

Kory: Well we take a piece of Daddy and a piece of Mommy and it comes together to form a baby.

Logan: Oh, so like we take Daddy's ear and Mommy's ear and it makes a baby?

Kory: (me laughing) no, the pieces are inside your body you can't see them.

Logan: So are there are certain number of pieces?

Kory: No, there are lots and lots, that is how you can have as many as you want.

Logan: But how does it get in your belly? Did you swallow the pieces?

Kory: (me laughing again) No... (at this point I didn't want to go into details.)

Logan: So then how did it get in your belly then?

Kory: Well technically it is not my belly that the baby grows in.

Logan: So how does it get in there? (talk about persistent)

Kory: Well it goes in the same way Hailey came out. (I was hoping this would be the end because we have had the whole how Hailey is born talk.)

Logan: Oh, I can't remember how did she come out?

Kory: (I guess he is making me say this..) Well it goes in my vagina?

Logan: But how does Daddy put it in there? (At this point Daddy thankfully comes in the door and I am saved.)

Logan asked Dad the same question he just asked me and Corey just told him it was complicated and we would explain it better when he got older. Now why didn't I think of that explanation? It actually worked and the subject was dropped. I felt like I was on trial for something. Man, I guess I need to be better prepared for this. Although I loved his creative thinking....

What's Been Going On

Things have been pretty laid back here. I will say I miss my all night sleeps. I guess I never realized how much I love my sleep until I don't get any. Gabe asked why I have black marks under my eyes, boy talk about needed some beauty help. I never realized how black they looked until I looked in the mirror. Good thing they have make-up that covers that. But we are in the process of getting Hailey on a schedule and in her crib. It has been a little bit of a fight. I try not to wake Corey up during the week because he has to work all day. So I am up at night deciding if Hailey is truly hungry or just wanting me to hold her. Last night went pretty good. After feeding her both times she went to sleep in her crib. I just put her down for her morning nap and she is once again asleep in her crib as you can see in the picture.

Let's hope that she will get used to this and maybe in a couple of months (agg) she will sleep through the night.
I got out of bed yesterday moring and went for my first run/walk since having Hailey. It went pretty well. I felt like I was so heavy when I was running. But I plan on getting more and more running time and less walking time every time I go out. It is kinda of depressing when I look back at how in shape I was before Hailey, but that will just make it that much more challenging.
And I couldn't help but upload this video of Gabe. I know I probably let him play way too much, but he looks so cute and he is playing some songs on expert and the rest on hard. This video is of Gabe playing hard.....I am really impressed with him. I might have to get him real guitar lessons when he turns 8.

What A Busy Saturday

I usually hate Saturday's that Corey works because I end up having a long day at home. But this past Saturday I was actually really busy so it didn't seem so long. I started out with the first soccer game of the spring for the boys. It was so windy here so I had to sit in the car with the baby and Lexie for an hour and a half. I wish I could have watched the game. I really enjoy watching them play. But I did manage to get pictures of them before the game.

Gabe for the Twisters and look at his curly fro

After games I went over to Sally's house to get my hair done. I have been growing my hair out forever and I needed some kind of change. It was getting to me and at least I held out until I had Hailey. But I ended up going pretty drastic.

Before
After
Then when I got home Corey watched the kids including Hailey so I could go shopping with Tiff. So we set out and I shopped a lot of stores without worrying about kids knocking this over or spilling anything. It was so much fun. We ended the night at Applebees. I love going there because of the WW menu so I don't have to worry about points there. It was a really good Saturday.

2 Week Check-Up

Hailey had her two week appointment today with the Dr. Things are looking really good. She is now 8lbs and 3oz so she is porking right up. Her head has somehow gotten the same genetics as my other kids....very small. I think it was barely in the 10th percentile. But that makes the delivery that much easier. We have been having issues with Hailey and regular milk based formula. She will scream every five minutes after eating. And I don't mean cry I mean scream with her back arched and her little fist just going to town. I was up all last night trying to get her to calm down for even thirty minutes. I think Corey was pretty tired too from taking the first shift till about 1am. I made a quick sprint to our Walmart early in the morning and bought some soy. She seems to do much better. She is still spitting up through her nose, but at least there is no dramatic screams from her. I told the Dr. and he said sometimes their little tummies have issued digesting the milk proteins. So it will be stinky soy for now.

Her cord fell off and it was looking really gooey on the inside. So the Dr. looked and put some stuff in there to dry it out and kill any germs. So now she has to go back to sponge bathing for a little while. Other than those small details she is thriving and is very healthy. I am so happy that she is after what we went through with Lexie.

Sorry if this post is boring to some, but I know that the grandma's look and like to know how things are going.

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things.

This blog was inspired by my sister-in-law who was having a rough day. I guess I needed to make a cute fun blog entry and so I thought of a couple of things that could and maybe would make someone smile. I know that I am lacking usually in the humor department, but hey I can at least give a crack at it.

My first thought was how excited I was to lose 7 pounds my first week of WeightWatchers. I know that the first couple of weeks you tend to lose more than usual, but nothing is better than stepping on the scale and seeing such a drastic difference. Smile #1

This next smile goes out to Sally and Danielle. I have proof that my house is not always spotless. The following picture was taken just seconds ago and yes that is crumbs all over my kitchen floor. I let them stay there all morning long without sweeping. I am not perfect so yes I plan on sweeping and mopping after this post, but hey at least it was not an immediate clean up. Smile #2

How could you not smile at this. Yesterday while Corey was changing a diaper Hailey's cord finally fell off. Corey came out saying he cut the cord off, I started freaking out. Then he explained it was hanging by this gooey mucus string and he just cut that. So I guess that is ok. Better than just pulling it off I guess. So I gave her a real bath last night. She actually did ok, until she got cold. Smile #3

I love this idea from my friend Julie, she had a post about celebrity crushes. And I had a fun time reading it and seeing who else had crushes on who. It really is a harmless idea I think. Corey and I actually joke about this all the time. His crush seems to be Jessica Simpson. He has always commented on how cute she is and I think her bust line helps out a lot. I have to admit she is a pretty woman.

I have to say my celeb crush right now is Gerard Butler from 300 and P.S. I Love You. Talk about a hottie. With a face like that and a nice accent to go with it who wouldn't swoon. To my credit I haven't actually seen 300 because it is rated R, but I have heard the bods in that movie are awesome.

As for my kids, they really don't care one way or the other. Although I caught Gabe ogling my Oxygen magazine the other day in my room. The bikini clad model on the front was sure catching his attention. I watched him from behind the door for a little while and then asked what he was doing. He just kinda backed away and said nothing as he headed toward the door. Only 5 and already looking at the bikini girls. Smile #4
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Finally We Got A Pilot

I do wish the economy would get better, in fact I worry way more than I should. But luckily Corey is with a good private company whose goal this year is to make no layoffs, so I was trying to think positive. Corey and I have been looking at the Honda Pilot for a long time now. They are rather expensive and so we knew we would have to shop wisely if we really wanted one. We have been looking for months to no avail. But since the economy is so crappy the prices have come down and made them more affordable for us. So Corey finally found one for a great price up in Kansas City. So yesterday he drove up and traded in our van and came back with it. I love it already and I am just itching to drive it. I have no reason right now, but I think now I won't mind running errands so much.
