Lots of Little Things

Have you ever gone through your pictures and you really don't have enough of a certain picture to do a decent post? Well I find myself in that situation and so I am just going to have a picture smorgasbord for all to partake of. We have a Minor League baseball game tonight so hopefully I will be more picture happy while there. In the meantime, here is what I found.

Gabe had a show your work day at school and I was very impressed with what he has learned. His reading has improved dramatically since moving here. The programs here are out of this world. Go Gabe.
How could I not post this? I did notice the snot coming out of her nose, but even with that nice addition she is still adorable.
Lexie with her infamous head tilt.
Posing strong after his first game. He did great for never having played before.
Awww, I am so proud of him. He is really a tenderhearted good kid. At least I got one out of four.
Gabe in his shirt and hat for his T-ball.
Brothers
Logan in his uniform for Minor League. For 50 bucks he gets to play and keep his uniform. I don't know why OK had to be so dang expensive with sports and you had to buy your own uniform there.
So my friend Cynthia told me she was going to learn to french braid. This got me motivated to learn. I am still not very good, but I came across this amazing website that gives great ideas for doing little girls hair. I love trying them all. Some turn out ok, others turn out amazing. I end up getting really proud of myself. If you want to check out the website just go here.
I took a picture of a couple that I was proud of.

I only have a week left till my race and so I am sure I will at least have some pictures to blog from there. Once again I will try to do better on my posting. I get caught up in life sometimes. But who doesn't?

Book Review

It was my turn in our book club to choose a book. We have not had a biography yet so everyone seemed good with that suggestion. But where to start? There is an endless array of biographies and memoirs out there. But as I was searching I just kept getting pulled back to this book. A Holocaust survivor from the Ukraine hid all her journals and documents until she finally told her husband of 50 years that she was a Holocaust survivor. She took years to translate her journal into English and then made her husband promise he would not publish it until after her death.

I just had to keep telling myself through out this whole book that it was a journal and not a fiction. She started writing around 9 years of age and her wording and descriptions were amazing. I can't believe that she endured all that she did and was able to make the rest of her life such a wonderful one. I am excited for us to discuss this book, and I would recommend it for a great read.

Run Follow Up

I realized that if I write a post about being freaked about my run, I had better follow up and do a quick post how it went. I know for those who look at Facebook you probably already have a sense of my adventure. I mean with eleven miles to go there was bound to be some sort of obstacle.

I started out pretty well. I will say I probably drank a little too much before hand. I did go to the bathroom right before I stepped out of the door. I always do and I felt no different. I have to say that running in MD is a joy compared to OK. There is so much vegetation and green and hills and beauty everywhere. Plus we live way up north of town so I have lots of running options that are out in the country. I LOVE IT. It makes running that much more enjoyable. Well around mile 4 I got the urge to pee. Now usually if you hold it long enough the urge will go away. But not this time. The longer I ran the worse it got and if you are running it is hard as you get jarred from every step to hold it in. I had been reading online about marathon running and certain experiences that people had written about. I read A LOT of post about people who just peed in their pants mid run. I turned my nose while I was reading and I defiantly wanted to throw up when I read that some even pooped as well.

Well around mile 5 I just couldn't hold it anymore. There were not facilities anywhere, the highway I was running on was lined with barbed wire fencing with nice NO TRESPASSING signs everywhere. Unlike males I couldn't discreetly pee on the side of the road. So I had to use the option I saw online. I just let it go. Granted I didn't do it all in one big spurt, I would let a little out till I felt better and this would continue for about a mile or so. I can't tell you how much better I felt afterwards. I dried pretty fast and I forgot all about it till I got home and I got a whiff of myself.

The run itself went really well. I felt awesome till around mile 10 when I realized the route I mapped online was actually a dead end road and not a thru route. So I had to backtrack which was frustrating in itself. I only had to tack on an extra half a mile because of it, but every bit hurts when you go that long. I realized that no matter what I am ready for that half in a couple of weeks. I am so ready to kick some trash.

And Thor, if you read this I did get some energy beans at my running store and I will have them at the ready to give me those extra bursts that I need.

Getting Nervous

So I find myself thinking A LOT lately about my upcoming half marathon. I looked at the calender and I only have three Saturday's of training left before my big race. Every time I think about it I get those nervous butterflies and I get anxious. I can already feel adrenaline pumping through my veins just typing this. But what is worse, is that I have a long training run in two days (Saturday) that is 11 miles. I think I am more nervous about this particular run because it is a true test if all my weeks and weeks of training are going to pay off. This will tell me if I will be able to run this half with no real issues.

So why am I blogging about this? Because I get less nervous as I talk about it. And since I am around four kids under the age of 8 basically all the time this is what you get.

Think turtle not hare.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!!! We had such a busy and eventful day. It was great. It seemed a little out of sorts that we didn't have to get up and get ready for church. The kids didn't understand that we watch it on TV instead. It even threw me for a loop when I first woke up. I really wanted to sleep in, but the kids with the excitement of the Easter Bunny would not let me. So I was up at 6:30am with them. I am glad that they liked all the junk that he dropped off.

Please don't look to close, this was a early morning picture and I had just rolled out of bed.

I love this picture, Hailey had the crown on and was just giggling. I shot it at mid giggle.
Around 2pm we had our good friends the Robello's come over for Easter dinner. It is so nice when they come. They are both great cooks and the food is always so great. They did bacon wrapped hot dogs which are wonderful. Plus he brought short ribs and grilled them. We had some rib-eyes we popped on as well. Let me just say the ribs were so good that I didn't even have steak. I just stuck with the ribs. There was Cynthia's homemade salsa as well. It is always so hot for me. She roast everything that she puts in it and it is wonderful. Good thing she brought extra to put in our fridge.

Then we did a Easter egg hunt for the kids. They were so excited. It was small with just about 50 eggs, but they got into it anyways. Hailey figured out the eggs held candy and once she did she was snatching eggs right and left.
Can you tell they are ready to hunt?
She sees the purple one in the grass.

Cynthia, Eddie, Keilanee and Little Eddie.
Esquibel clan
She found a Reese's Cup and popped wrapper and all in there.
The weather was perfect and we just sat and talked while the men played ball. It was a perfect day to celebrate Easter.

Lexie's Party

We had a great time today at Lexie's party. All the girls made it and there was so much pink and fluff and Lexie loved it all. She was in heaven. We started out with some party games. Some of them were musical thrones, hot potato, Pea pillow sit and of course pin the lips on the frog. All of them turned out really cute and the girls had so much fun.

I bought a read along story of The Princess and the Frog and I read it to the girls. I was a little worried that it wouldn't hold there attention since it was pretty long. But all of them sat there and listened the whole time. We then had the cupcakes and ice cream and then opened presents. It wasn't that big of a party, and since it was her first I think it was just perfect.

Thanks so much for the gifts from everyone. She loved every single thing. She got a Mermaid Barbie and a pool to go with her. She got dress up shoes, hair accessories, a cool hanging lamp and a purse with make-up. She also got some princess Polly Pockets and another thing of make-up. She was in heaven because she is all about make-up right now for some reason. Thank goodness it is clear and doesn't really show up that much. It was a great day.

Kiss the frog game.
Of course the boys had to get in there somewhere
Happy Birthday Lexie girl!!

Logan's Party

I have no idea what is so great about Chucky Cheese, but for some reason all kids LOVE it. My kids always want to go, and of course we never do. So this year Logan wanted a party at Chucky Cheese's, so we did it. I don't know if it was a bad weekend with Easter, but we only had our really good friends the Robello's show up with their two kids. But honestly it worked out great because that left more tokens for our kids. They played and played and ate and had the best time. Logan proclaimed it was the best birthday party ever. I actually had a great time as well. Who knew that Chucky would have games for kids and adults to enjoy.
So here's to you Mr. Cheese for making our birthday great.
I promise there was no spirits involved, although Logan looks like he has had some in this picture. That cake was awesome.
He was so happy.
Eating the ice cream and watching Chucky do his thing.
Proud to be the birthday boy.
Hailey had a grand old time as well.

Lexie eating her cake, she hid under the table while Chucky was there. Not a big fan of big animal suits.
Little Eddie, he is such a good kid. I always tell him he can come over anytime.
Corey captured Gabe's face when Chucky came out...priceless.
This horse game was a blast. I actually tried it as well.
Self portrait.
My best friend here Cynthia....we hang out about everyday.
We had the best time. Thank you Robello's for cancelling your camping trip to make it to Logan's party. It wouldn't have been the same without you.
