Jenny Phillips

On Sunday I had the opportunity to go see a Jenny Phillips fireside in Casper.  This is a great upside of being in the YW presidency.  She makes such beautiful music and it was fun to hear her sing in person.  It was a fireside to prepare the youth for trek which is coming up in June.  I don't get to go the whole time, but I do get to attend for 2 days of it.  I feel extremely blessed because I get to go at Martin's Cove where the actual pioneers had to travel.  I know it will be a great experience for the girls in our group.  Jenny Phillips talked a lot about what the pioneers went through and some experiences that were recorded.  Sorry the picture is a little fuzzy.  Carrie had it take on her phone for me.  I didn't want to bring my big old Cannon and look like a tourist or some fanatic.

Disruption in the World

I normally don't post until I have some sort of picture to go along with it.  But since I am having the blog put to print it helps to serve as a type of journal as well.  I can't help but think about how blessed I am to have the Gospel in my life.  With how crazy the world has been just this week I feel such strength that comes from having such a deep root of faith.  First the bombing at the Boston Marathon and the explosion at the Texas Power plant.  Now I read about the huge earthquake in China that has destroyed so many lives or changed them forever.  And while the world seems to be running around with it's head cut off trying to figure things out I feel totally and utterly at peace.  Which if you know me is so unusual.  After Danni was born I had some life changing experiences that strengthened my faith and testimony of the Gospel.  I know that God is in control of this crazy world and that if I do all I can to live up to my side of the deal He will carry the rest on His shoulders.  What a great deal huh?  And deleting my Facebook account has been the best thing I could have done.  Not only do I have more time with the kids but I find that I don't stress about life anymore.  I don't have to worry about hundreds of other people's lives and just concentrate on my own.

My prayers do go out to all the people who have been affected by all the turmoil that is going on.  I know that we are being watched after and loved as we strive to do all we can.  And to end on an up note this morning I ran 9 miles with my running group.  I didn't plan on running that far but I felt amazing and I am so glad that my endurance is slowly coming back to me.  That half should be easy by the end of August.

The Snow Continues

I figured everyone didn't get enough pictures of the mounds of snow we got.  And as I am typing this we are still getting some.  It is not very heavy now, but still pretty steady.  I think we might have to dig ourselves out if it doesn't stop soon.  My mom wanted to see pictures so I sent her some on my phone, but my phone takes horrible pictures and just doesn't do it much justice.  I still can't believe we are almost in May.

 Pile right outside my door.
Can't even tell where the stair are at.
Notice the drift halfway up the fence.  I almost wanted to jump in it....almost.
Shot of the trampoline which Hailey says looks like a cupcake now.
Snow anyone?

Blizzard Run

I know that no one wants to hear me whine about the weather.  But I am going to anyways.  I mean come on now.  It is spring, time for warmer weather and parks and green grass.  I guess Wyoming didn't get the memo from Mr. Groundhog because we are stuck in winter.  Last weeks blizzard didn't even dump half as much as this week.  I-25 is closed on both sides of Douglas so Corey had to take this small highway that takes an hour to get to work.  I worry about him on the road but there is nothing that he can do.  The kids were bummed once again that they still had school today.  These Wyoming people know how to rough it.  I don't even know how the bus got here to pick up the kids.

So I really needed to get a run in, the cold temperatures and all the snow is making it near to impossible to find the courage to go.  My friend Bonnie who is usually the other crazy runner got the flu and had to skip out on me.  Good thing Miss Ashley was willing to get out and go in the blizzard.  The best investment for me moving here is my mask that I wear.  It really does help.  Once we got out and started moving it wasn't that bad.  It was only horrible facing the wind with the snow so we tried to do that as little as possible.  Snow is still coming down now and I am hoping for a break some time soon.  I would take even mid 40's at this point.
Ashley ran ahead and got a picture of me running.

Crazy News and Shots

I was just getting ready to post and my friend texts me and asked if I had heard about the Boston Marathon Explosion....I then had to hurry and look online.  Are you serious?  What a scary thought that you have been running for 4 hours and exhausted and then have to deal with two explosions...  And the really bad part was seeing the time at 4 hours and 10 minutes which is right where I finished both  my marathons.  How horrible for all those people.  What is our world coming to???

And speaking of what is our world coming to, what is up with Wyoming?  Corey claims this is normal weather, but I am dying I tell ya.  I look at everyone else who is warm and green and like my mom in the 80's already.  We are dealing with more snow than we have all winter long.  We are supposed to get even more the next two days.  And the fact that the temperatures are staying in the low 30's are not helping either.  The kids were really upset having to go to school on the blizzard days.  Even though the interstates and highways going to and from Douglas were all closed they still had school.  I had to laugh as they stomped off to school in snow gear.  Spring just won't come so I guess we will just go to straight summer.

It was so cold...it felt like 0 outside.  At least they are all bundled up.  I stayed home.

Since Danni turned 2 months old it is time to do immunizations.  Here in lovely WY they don't give shots at the Dr. office.  You have to sit in the Health Department and get them done.  Which means they ask you to pay a donation to get them done each time.  And since Hailey's 2nd Hepatitis shot is not required I had to pay out of pocket for it.  So 40 bucks later she has her shot.  I find this annoying and a waste of money for me but I guess that is how they do it here.  Don't like it at all, but nothing I can do now.  Hailey went right up to the nurse pulled her arm out and just let her do the shot.  She didn't even blink an eye.  She looked at me then the nurse and said that didn't hurt at all.  I was so impressed with her.  She even thanked me for taking her to get a shot.  I guess as I get her ready for school I won't have to drag her in to get them done.  Danni did cry and was not very happy with me, but hey it had to be done.

Since Hailey was such a trooper I stopped by McDonalds and got her a sundae for a treat.  And the one good thing is they gave us a book for getting the shots.  I am building up a nice library thanks to the reading in WY program.

Only two more weeks and Lexie is getting baptized and Danni is getting blessed.  We have lots of family coming and it should be crazy and fun.  Once the weather warms up I should have more posts.  We have a cool trip planned the end of May to Mt. Rushmore and then the Rollins family reunion in June that we are going to.  Warm weather can't come soon enough.

Lexie bday and Danni 2 months

April is here already!!  It has been really warm this week in WY and it makes me yearn for those nice park days.  We are forecast to get snow this next week so I think this is just a nasty trick by mother nature.  Can you believe that Danni is 2 months old?  It seems like she just got here, but at the same time is feels like she has always been part of us.  She is sleeping so much better at night now.  She only gets up once to eat and then goes right back to bed till around 7 or 8.  So I am getting much more sleep and not feeling so worn down.  Danni loves to eat and insist on eating pretty much all day long.  She also loves loves attention and if she isn't getting it from someone she will cry.  She does love to smile and talk when she has someone looking at her.  She is finding her voice and she can get really loud sometimes.  But it makes it that much more adorable and who can resist something like that.  She hasn't been to the Dr. yet, this will be this week, so I don't have her stats yet.  But she has gotten bigger I can tell from her clothes.

 That is one cute baby.
This is her stank face, she does look grumpy when she wants to.  Has some good Rollins genes in there.
I will have to look and see if she does look bigger compared to the bear picture from last month.
Corey thought since she loves attention we could get a pack to carry her around with us.  She was ok for about 15 minutes then was done.  It wasn't a total waste because we will need this for our vacations planned this summer.
Even though she smiles all the time getting it on camera is a whole different story.  This is the best I could get.  I think because the camera is so big she can't see my face.
Corey took this picture and I thought it was funny.  I am trying to figure this thing out and it has so many straps I am surprised I could.  We got it from Once Upon A Child so there was no instructions.

I know it is past Lexie's birthday but since Logan's took up all last weekend she got to officially celebrate this past weekend.  We went out to eat at Village Inn and she got pancakes and hot chocolate.  I ordered her baptism dress online and I am so excited to see her in it.  She is getting baptized the first weekend in May.  She is pretty excited.  This is her cake that she wanted.  I give the kids an option of either buying one or me making them.  I always hope they will just pick the store one but of course Lexie wanted me to make it.  She loves Littlest Pet Shop so this is what I could come up with.  She loved it and she loved that she got to keep the new pet shops on top.
Lexie got money from both grandparents and with the money she has saved from allowance this is what she got.  She loves her 18inch dolls (I say that because I can't afford 100 dollars for one doll) but she loves her Target dolls all the same.  She got a jeep for them to ride in and a salon chair to do hair.  She has been down in her room playing non-stop.
